Mayor Greg Raths Announces Endorsement of Kelly Ernby for Assembly

Mission Viejo Mayor Greg Raths endorses Kelly Ernby in the race for California’s 74th Assembly District

(Mission Viejo, CA) – Mission Viejo Mayor Greg Raths today announced his endorsement of Kelly Ernby for State Assembly.

Greg Raths has served as a member of the Mission Viejo City Council in November 2014 and re-elected in 2018. He was selected by his council colleagues to serve as Mayor for 2019. Greg is a decorated combat fighter pilot of Operations Desert Storm, Southern Watch, and Restore Hope. He served as Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer of The White House Military Office from 1996-1999. He retired from military service in 2004 at the rank of Colonel after 30 years of honorable service.

“Kelly has the fighting spirit we need to lower California’s sky-high taxes and reduce unregulated government expenditures,” said Mayor Raths. “I believe that Kelly is the right choice to represent Orange County and the 74th Assembly District in Sacramento.”

Raths’ endorsement adds to the growing list of prominent Republican supporters of Kelly Ernby for Assembly, joining Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner, former Newport Beach City Council Member Scott Peotter, Irvine Mayor Christina Shea, Irvine Mayor Pro Tem Anthony Kuo.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of Mayor Greg Raths,” said Ernby. “My brother recently made the difficult decision to leave California due to the rising cost of living in our state. If elected, I pledge to make California affordable again by lowering the tax burden on working families and reining in the Democrats’ irresponsible spending in Sacramento.”

Kelly Ernby is a pro-business, pro-taxpayer, political outsider with over 16 years of legal experience, including more than seven as a local prosecutor. As a deputy district attorney, Ernby has litigated some of the most serious and complex cases in the areas of the environment, consumer protection, labor violations, and fraud. Ernby is a California native, the daughter of two enlisted members of the U.S. Navy and the sister to a Marine. Ernby now resides in Huntington Beach with her husband.

The 74th district encompasses the beach towns of Huntington, Newport, and Laguna as well as Costa Mesa, Laguna Woods, and Irvine. Republicans have a 4% voter registration advantage in the district (35% Rep, 31% Dem, 30% NPP).
