Former Newport Beach City Councilmember Scott Peotter endorses Kelly Ernby in the race for California’s 74th Assembly District

(Newport Beach, CA) – Former Newport Beach City Councilmember Scott Peotter today announced his endorsement of Kelly Ernby for State Assembly.

“As a former Newport Beach City Councilman, I've had a chance to listen to constituents who have expressed what's important to them,” said Scott Peotter. “Our community wants their private property rights protected, the freedom to take their dogs to the beach, and a friendly environment for local businesses. I endorse Deputy District Attorney Kelly Ernby to stand up for what's important to the people of Newport Beach and the 74th Assembly District.”

Scott Peotter was elected to the Newport Beach City Council in 2014. While on the city council, Scott served as Newport's representative to the Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA), Orange County Sanitation District, and the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District. Scott is a licensed architect with over 40 years’ experience in the construction and real estate profession. Scott and his family have been residents of Newport Beach for over 13 years.

Peotter’s endorsement adds to the growing list of early supporters of Kelly Ernby for Assembly, joining Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner and Irvine Mayor Christina Shea.

“I am honored by this early outpouring of support for our campaign,” said Kelly Ernby. “I’m excited to continue sharing my vision for the future of Orange County with our community. The 74th District deserves a genuine leader who will work to reduce barriers to business and enhance the quality of life of all Californians.”

Kelly Ernby is a pro-business, pro-taxpayer, political outsider with over 16 years of legal experience, including more than seven as a local prosecutor. As a deputy district attorney, Ernby has litigated some of the most serious and complex cases in the areas of the environment, consumer protection, labor violations, and fraud. Ernby is a California native, the daughter of two enlisted members of the U.S. Navy and the sister to a Marine. Ernby now resides in Huntington Beach with her husband.

The 74th district encompasses the beach towns of Huntington, Newport, and Laguna as well as Costa Mesa, Laguna Woods, and Irvine. Republicans have a 4% voter registration advantage in the district (35% Rep, 31% Dem, 30% NPP).
